Call the Midwife Wiki

Arnold Gelin was the husband and later widower of cancer patient Ruth Gelin in Series 7 of Call the Midwife. He was played by Allan Corduner.

Arnold Gelin was born in Germany. Because he and his wife Ruth were Jewish, she was forced to flee the country in the 1930's when Adolf Hitler came to power. Emigrating to England, Ruth and Arnold eventually settled in Poplar, which was to be her home for the rest of their lives, they had two children named Martin and Hilary. Arnold worked as a baker, working very hard so his family could buy their own house, and when the bakery he worked for closed down he moved into Ruth's kitchen and she hardly saw it since, always making bread as he hated sitting idle.
