This article is about Series One of Call The Midwife.
Series One was first broadcast in 2012 and introduced us to the inhabitants of Nonnatus House and their work in the community of Poplar, London in the 1950s.
Along with childbirth, the first series addressed issues such as extreme poverty, prostitution and brothels, the closure of the workhouses, the care of the dying and the attitudes towards unwed pregnancies at the time.
